Iceland

July 19 - 27, 2025

In the summer of 2025, Coro Mundi held its most recent international residency in Iceland, a country of remarkable and unique beauty. Our home base for rehearsals—and the venue for one of our three performances—was Harpa, one of Reykjavík’s most striking landmarks and a vibrant center of cultural life in the heart of the city.

The program featured the world premiere of Sicut Cervus, newly composed by Sigurður Sævarsson and commissioned by Coro Mundi for this occasion. It also included Sævarsson’s setting of Diliges Dominum and the Iceland premiere of Alex Berko’s Sacred Place, a six-movement work for choir, piano, violin, and cello.

We were especially grateful to collaborate with violinist Una Sveinbjarnardóttir, leader of the Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra and a concertmaster of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, and cellist Júlía Mogensen, co-founder of the KÚBUS ensemble.
