The largest and most famous of Tuscany’s spa towns, Montecatini Terme has been revered for its curative waters since at least the 16th century when the first baths were built.  A popular tourist destination, Montecatini is ideally located:  Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Pistoia and the western coast of Italy are all less than an hour by car or train, while Siena is just 90 minutes away.  The cobblestone streets and historic architecture of Montecatini Alto, a nearby medieval town, is just a short funicular ride up the hillside.
